Born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1960

EDUCATION Graduated as Graphic Designer at the Neumann Foundation, Caracas in 1982. Completes the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the California College of Arts and Crafts, California in 1985 and the Master of Fine Arts degree (Printmaking major) at Pratt Institute, New York in 1992. Between 1979 and 1982 studied Literature at the “Universidad Central de Venezuela”

TEACHING EXPERIENCE Since 1985 Romero has been teaching Illustration, Printmaking and Creative Writing to adults and children in different cultural institutions in Venezuela.

EXPERIENCE ABROAD In 1994 participates in a Master Printmaking workshop in Valdottavo, Italy. In 1999 lives in an Artist Residency in Taos, New Mexico. In 1991 teaches as an assistant to the lithography professor at Pratt Institute. In June, 2001 she participated in the Women Studio Workshop in Rosendale, NY, in 2002 participated at Fundación Valparaiso, Spain and Studio SOTO, Boston as Visiting Artist.

AWARDS Between 1982 and 2000 Romero has received several grants to pursue her internationally development as an artist.

In 1994 she received the “Ferro de Venezuela” prize at the “XXII Salón Nacional de las Artes del Fuego” and in the year 2000 she received the Banco Mercantil prize in Experimental Printmaking at the “II Caracas Biennial”
